About Value Imagery

Value Imagery was first founded in 2016 by Alexander Sharkey, in Lennox Head, Northern Rivers of NSW. Since the beginning, the mission for Value Imagery has remained the same: to help local organisations tell authentic stories through media.

Over the last 10 years, the passion for creative filmmaking & storytelling has grown into a commercial video production and photography studio trusted by more than 200 businesses, brands, government agencies, educational institutions, tourism organisations, and not-for profits across the Northern Rivers, South East Queensland, and Australia.

Local Presence

Founded in Lennox Head in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Value Imagery is proud to call the Northern Rivers home while helping local businesses and organisations compete on a national stage. We primarily work across the Northern Rivers and South East Queensland, with businesses in Byron Bay, Ballina, Bangalow, Lismore, Lennox Head, Tweed Heads, and the Gold Coast, but also partner with organisations across Australia for different projects.

Who We Work With

Value Imagery works with local businesses, organisations, not-for-profits, government agencies, RTOs, sporting organisations, real estate companies, advertising agencies, and hospitality businesses.

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to produce everything from national advertising campaigns and television commercials to corporate brand films, tourism campaigns, aerial cinematography, commercial photography, and documentary-style storytelling.

Our portfolio is not exclusive to any type of client or business. Projects have included 250+ product photographs for two Northern Rivers plant nurseries, a six-month masterclass series for cold-press juicer brand Kuvings, a series of 10 cheesemaking videos for Nimbin Valley Dairy, and a 15-minute documentary for the Northern Rivers Community Foundation. We have also worked with Seven Mile Brewing, the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, Ability Surf, and Kimberley Kampers. Government work has included NSW Government, Transport for NSW, NSW Health, Byron Shire Council, and Tweed Shire Council, alongside Telstra, Westpac, Deloitte, Sotheby’s, and Cushman & Wakefield. Broadcast clients include ABC News and TVNZ.

Whether we’re working with a local small business, a growing regional organisation, or a national brand, every client receives the same level of care, professionalism, and attention to detail.

About Alexander Sharkey

Alexander Sharkey, or “Sharkey” on set, is the founder and Creative Director of Value Imagery. Originally from Philadelphia, he holds a degree in Cinema Production and Photography from Ithaca College in New York and spent time living and working in both New York City and Los Angeles. While the opportunities were exciting, he quickly realised that the fast-paced big city lifestyle wasn’t where he wanted to build his future.

After relocating to the Northern Rivers in 2015, Sharkey recognised an opportunity to better serve the growing regional business community across Byron Bay, Ballina, Lismore, and the Tweed. As digital content creation and social media rapidly became central to modern marketing, many local businesses didn’t have access to affordable, high-quality video production and commercial photography. Value Imagery was founded in Lennox Head to bridge that gap, bringing professional production values to regional businesses without the need to engage metropolitan agencies.

Awards & Recognition

Today, Value Imagery has partnered with more than 200 organisations across Australia, while remaining proudly based in Northern NSW. In 2025, Sharkey was a finalist at the Business NSW Regional Business Awards and the Innovate with NBN Awards, in recognition of how far Value Imagery has come, and how much it has contributed to the region.

Sharkey actively sponsors, and partners with local initiatives, community groups and not-for-profit organisations by offering discounts on creative services. Value Imagery has been a proud sponsor of events including Oz Grom Open, Love Lennox Festival, as well as working alongside educational partners including TAFE, and SAE to provide opportunities for emerging creatives.

Outside the business, Sharkey serves as Vice President of Business Lennox Head, the town’s local chamber of commerce, where he continues to advocate for local businesses and initiatives that strengthen the region. For him, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping businesses, organisations, and communities thrive while living and working in one of Australia’s most beautiful regions. It’s a career that has proven far more meaningful than anything the bright lights of Hollywood or New York could offer.
